I was born and raised in Hong Kong. Before coming to ANU to pursue my PhD studies, I obtained my Bachelor’s degree from Hong Kong Baptist University and Master’s degree from The Chinese University of Hong Kong. I majored in History in both.
My research interests include the history of the Song dynasty, political history and intellectual history. My PhD project focuses on the concept of an intellectual “school” in the Song dynasty (960-1279). I aim to understand how Song scholars interpreted the concept of a “school”, to test its value for historical analysis. Was it a concept used by Song scholars themselves or a convenient way of categorising the past developed in later times?
